10 Years!Oct 19, 2018
This month marks ten years since we began our fight for justice for British consumers. Of course we celebrated our birthday in true We Fight Any Claim style – with balloons and cake!
However, even after ten years, we are still as passionate as ever about ensuring those affected by the UK’s largest financial scandal are compensated. We will continue to drive forward with our message, that whether it’s £750 or £75,000, it’s your money and it’s worth fighting for.
But today we are revelling in nostalgia, looking back at the last ten years of We Fight Any Claim.
Starting life with a small handful of staff, we were overjoyed with our first customer offer of £3,033.94. By 2013 we had reclaimed £50 million for our customers, and by 2014 we achieved an unbelievable £100 million in offers.
We grew through the years and expanded our workforce to help us manage the increased workload. We now offer a range of permanent roles to over 460 staff at our Cwmbran based contact centre.
In 2015 we launched our employee benefits package, . Providing our staff with a range of discounts at local businesses, it was a way of showing appreciation to them for all their hard work. Our continued commitment to the development and wellbeing of our staff, both professionally and personally, led to us being awarded Investors in People Gold in 2015.
As we perfected our processes and gained momentum, we proudly announced £300 million in customer offers in the latter half of 2016.
After years spent being demonised by the media, our aim was always to change the way our industry was viewed. In 2017 we enlisted the help of , who fronted our nationwide campaign to help us communicate the truth behind the PPI scandal, and promote access to justice for consumers.
Our adverts were watched by millions on prime time television, and our billboards sat proudly in Canary Wharf.
Standing strong in our belief that the deadline was not in the best interest of the public, we took the FCA to in a bid to have the deadline overturned. Although we did not win, it showed the financial industry what we were made of.
So much so that in 2017, we were named in the London Stock Exchange’s To add to this amazing achievement, we were one of only 27 businesses in Wales to make the report.
Our celebrations continued that year as we announced we had achieved in customer offers.
The nature in which PPI was mis-sold meant that people with pre-existing medical conditions were at a higher risk of having been mis-sold PPI. So in 2018 we exhibited at , Europe’s biggest trade and consumer show dedicated to the care, rehabilitation, and lifestyle of people with a disability or impairment.
We attended the event to help people understand the link between pre-existing medical conditions and the PPI scandal, and offered a free, no obligation PPI check to all attendees.
We spend our time fighting for what’s right and there is no greater satisfaction then helping a customer get back the money they are owed. The only thing that comes close is our ability to support local and national charities.
Each week our staff pay £1 to wear their own casual clothes to work. The money raised is used to support a range of which our staff help us choose. To date we have raised an incredible £79,000 for local and national charities.
Whilst this figure may be impressive, it is nothing in comparison to our latest announcement: We have now recovered £500 million in customer offers! That’s half a billion pounds we have taken from the banks and put back in the pockets of those affected by the PPI scandal.
Our CEO Richard Thomas made the announcement to the entire workforce last week, reflecting on the last ten years, and talking about his vision for the next ten.
Now if that wasn’t a reason for cake and balloons we don’t know what is!
